SAFO was founded in 1981 as a software house company specialising in the creation of systems for car rental companies. In 1990 it changed its company name to SAFO Sistemi srl. Through experience acquired in the development of management software, it extended its activities to the administrative services in outsourcing. In more than 20 years of activity, the SAFO Systems has achieved an elevated level of competence in the automotive world, and in particular in the sectors of vehicle hire and fleet management.
From the second half of 2005, as a result of entry into the company of the new director Dr. Elpidio Sacchi, Safo has started a profound process of rejuvenation, aimed at a more conscious use of technology as a basis for its evolution.
This process of development and significant changes of SAFO’s corporate and logistics can be seen in the light of different size of the company in 2006, which increased its stock capital up to 100,000.00 euros.
The 2006 is a year of renovations, during which the IT activity grows exponentially, reaching a value equal to the production of services, with excellent prospects for further growth. To expand the organizational structure of the IT activity and make it more autonomous in the market, SAFO Systems takes over the control with over 66% of the shares of another company, called at the time of the acquisition SAFO Informatica srl, which was established in the market in the areas of consulting, design and market applications.
In the following year, SAFO continues its growth by offering its services to foreign countries, especially Romania, where a new branch was established..
In 2007 the company becomes a group which in March 2008 is transformed into public limited company by creating the SAFO GROUP SPA.
Nowadays, SAFO is a reality that continues to grow, with over 150 specialists, working on two major lines of business:

SAFO Systems include among its customers, companies that in aggregate represent a market share of over 85% of car rental companies in Italy.
Within the ICT field, the customer base of SAFO is composed of some of the most prestigious institutions of the PA and several system integrators.
In different areas of intervention SAFO Systems implements standard processes and implements customized software in the most diverse business areas such as: the complete cycle of applications for the management of fleet vehicles and rental activities in the short and long term basis, Customer Service, Help Desk, issuing invoices on behalf of customers and for end users.
As a result of its responsive organization SAFO can ensure maximum operating flexibility. At the same time, the relative small number of employees ensures maximum power allocation on the different operating procedures.
With regard to the automotive sector, the heart of the services offered by SAFO is "Fines Management" which is the pride of the SAFO Sistemi srl both in terms of control and for the high level of customization provided to each customer: owing to the service of fines management, SAFO is the market leader, managing more than 1,200,000 fines a year.
